You are eligible for US conditional permanent residence after your I-526 petition is approved. An investor living outside the US will get the green card after the following steps.

  • Apply for consular processing, submit documents, and attend the visa interview.
  • Receive a visa number with validity of six months. You and your dependent family members must enter the US before this period expires. 
  • Receive the I-551 temporary stamp, which is temporary evidence of your permanent resident status, on your passport at the port of entry. This is valid for one year and allows you to travel abroad as a US permanent resident 
  • Pay a $220 fee for the physical green card and submit a US address at the port of entry.

Receive your physical green card at your US address within two to six weeks.

Once you get your green card, you must maintain your status by fulfilling applicable rules related to physical presence in the US. Also, you must take proactive steps to show your intent to reside and settle in the US. These include renting a house, paying utility bills, opening bank accounts, and getting your children enrolled in US schools.
