  8. More than 20% of the world’s oxygen is produced in South America, which is home to the Amazon rainforest.
  9. The continent has more than 40% of the world’s plants and animal species.
  10. The tallest waterfall in the world, Angel Falls in Venezuela, is 979 meters.
