IIUSA Data Report: USCIS Processing Times for I-526, I-829 Petitions and I-924 Applications through May 2016

Last week United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) published updated processing times for the Immigration Investor Program Office (IPO). The processing times are as follows:

I-526: Conditional Green Card Application

The average processing time for Form I-526 is currently 16.6 months, which represents a 23.9% increase over this time last year. Since December 2015, I-526 processing times have been consistently above 16 months and 16.6 months which represents the longest processing times for I-526 petitions in Program history.

I-829: Permanent Green Card Application

I-829 processing times increased by a dramatic 47.8% in a year over year comparison with a petition processing time over 20.1 months. For the first time ever I-829 processing times eclipsed the 20 month mark continuing the upward trend of processing times since December of 2015.

I-924: Regional Center Application

Unlike I-529/829 petitions, the processing time for I-924 applications dropped by 13.9% from this time last year. It now takes 9.9 months for an I-924 application to be processed which is just under the 12 month average processing time of 10.1 months.

Currently, there are no backlog or retrogression issues facing EB-5 investor applicants from India and no such issues are expected for investors from India in the near future.
